TUSCUMBIA-Brian Lansing Martin has been indicted by a grand jury and charged with four counts of Capital Murder 1st degree in the shooting deaths of William Mealback, Jr. and Sargent Nick Risner of the Sheffield Police Department.
According to authorities on October 1, 2021 Martin shot and killed William Mealback, Jr. and then pushed his body onto Avalon Avenue in Muscle Shoals. After which he lead officers on a chase into Sheffield and then back into Muscle Shoals where a shootout ensued.
The shootout behind the Southgate Mall resulted in the killing of Sgt. Risner and the injuring of Lt. Max Dotson.
A total of 12 charges have been found by the grand jury including three counts of attempted murder, three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol and abuse of a corpse.
Martin is being held in the Morgan County Jail.
