Brad Ernest Mallette, 49 of Athens, died suddenly at home on Monday, May 8, 2023. Brad is survived by his parents, Dr. James E. and Anita Simmons Mallette, Florence, and brothers, Dr. Mo (Stephanie) Mallette, Florence, and Dr. Steve (Lisa) Mallette, Athens. He leaves behind an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog, “Maybe”.

Carefree, with a quick wit, Brad was known as the “fun uncle” to his nephew, James, and nieces, Madeline, Vivian, Isabel, Grace and Caroline. Brad was godfather to Grace and Jack Horton of Birmingham. He enjoyed cheering them on at their games and treasured the time he spent with them as they grew up.

Brad had a big heart and was a devoted friend, often keeping up with his pals via phone calls almost any time of the day or night! He was quick to help out a stranger in need and was patient and kind when tutoring kids needing extra help with schoolwork.

Brad graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1992 and from the University of Mississippi in 1996. He was a successful pharmaceutical salesman, winning many awards for his work over the years. He also worked as a financial advisor for Prudential. Brad was an excellent writer and loved spending time reading his Grandpa Simmons book, “The Plow-Boy Poet”.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James E. and Annie Mae Mallette and Guy and Mildred Simmons.

A visitation for Brad’s family and friends will be held Saturday, May 13, from 2 – 4pm at Greenview Memorial Chapel, 3657 Old Chisholm Rd. Florence. There will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
