Boyd “Mack” McMurtrey Reeves, of Hokes Bluff, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2021. A private family service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Tony McGowan and Hokes Bluff Mayor Scott Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing.
Mack was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School, Class of 1957. He attended Tulsa University from 1957 to 1960 where he was a member of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. Mr. Reeves was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Gadsden, AL for 39 years. Later Mack drove the Gadsden DART bus in his retirement years. He loved to fish, enjoyed attending sporting events (especially Alabama football games), and spending time with his beloved family.
Mack is preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Louise Reeves; sister, Janice Reeves Daves; and brother, Troy Reeves Jr.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Patterson Reeves; daughters, Jana Cagle and Charlene Reeves; son, Jason Reeves; grandchildren, Tristen Cagle, Cassidy Reeves, and Tyler Reeves; brother, HK Reeves (Sharon); sister-in-laws, Bobbie Reeves and Sandra Chalfant; brother-in-laws, Scott Huff and Shay Chalfant; and many nieces and nephews, including his namesake, Benjamin Mack Voss.
Pallbearers will be Chip Reeves, Chad Reeves, Kyle Bryan, Nathan Bryan, Glen Bryan, Andrew Reeves, Trey Reeves, and Gavin Graham.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Reeves, Mark Reeves, Ron Young, Keith Grey, Shay Chalfant, and Scott Huff.
