Bossie Travis “Grumpy” Price

Graveside Service with Masonic Rites for Mr. Bossie Travis “Grumpy” Price, age 80 of Cragford, will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Clay County Memory Gardens with Huey Barrett and James “Bo” Strong officiating.

Mr. Price passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his home. Born in Clay County, he spent most of his life in Indiana and Missouri before returning home. He was an Iron Worker until his retirement, and also a cattle farmer while living in Missouri. Mr. Price loved playing golf, and tried going three times a week to play with his friends. He enjoyed playing at the Clay County Golf Course and Pertle Springs in Missouri. He enjoyed playing poker, blackjack, watching Alabama and Kansas City football and going to the barn. Mr. Price was a big fan of Western’s, including Gun Smoke, anything John Wayne and Mountain Men. He loved his family, his dogs and being a part of the Masons. Mr. Price was a member of County Line Baptist Church, the Zamora Temple (Bamom) in Irondale, Masonic Lodge #356 and #219.

He is survived by five sons: Jeff Price, Greg Price, both of Cragford, Paul Price of Chilhoee, MO, Jon Price of Leeton, MO and Bryan (Siqi Zhou) of Casper, WY, his sister, Mildred Suggs (Sam) of Cragford, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. Price and Mildred Lillian Chapman Price, his wife, Alice “Bobbie” Price, his son, Mike Price and his sister, Charlotte Williams.

Active Pallbearers will be: Tim McCain, Tim Prince, Todd Shaw, Steven Shearon, Aaron Norrell and Tim “Bird” Strong.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jefferey Price, Jr. and Erik Norrell.

Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
