Bonnie Marie Miller
Bonnie was born to Oral Curtis (Joe) and Lela Owens on a Colorado winter day in 1935. Her sisters Juanita and Delores tried to keep her out of trouble, or at least out of their things for several years. Thirteen years later they were all surprised when a little brother, Leon, joined the family.
Bonnie met her beloved husband Bennie when she was 15. He was an Alabama native looking for summer work in Colorado. Bonnie’s father gave Bennie and his friend a place to stay in return for doing some maintenance work on the cabins he rented out.
Bennie and Bonnie would probably have married then if her mother hadn’t put her foot down HARD. Bonnie couldn’t marry that early.
Bennie joined the Air Force, spent a year overseas and then returned for his Bonnie. They left Colorado for New Jersey shortly after the wedding. They sadly lost a first son days after his birth. But a daughter arrived the next year and another son three years later. Bennie, Bonnie, Connie and Brad lived an Air Force lifestyle which meant moving frequently and experiencing many different cultures. They traveled throughout Europe while Bennie was stationed in Germany. They also lived in Florida, Hawaii, Wyoming, Colorado, Louisiana and Nevada.
Bennie and Bonnie lived several years in Saudi Arabia and were able to also visit Egypt, Israel and Cypress.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, and both sisters. She is survived by her daughter and husband Connie and Johnny McDole and her son and wife Brad and Trish Miller as well as her brother and wife Leon and Myrna Owens. She is also survived by her loyal friend Betty Bouldin and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will have a graveside service, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Beulah Cemetery in Boaz. There will be no visitation.
