Bonnie L. Cummings, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at her residence in Florence after a long extended illness. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Lindsey Cemetery in Dennis, Mississippi with David Conley of Liberty Church of Christ officiating.
Bonnie was an accomplished artist. She painted with chalk very beautiful pictures. She could also draw an object or person by looking at them. Bonnie was born in Belmont, Mississippi. In 1943 the family moved to Florence. She graduated from Larimore Business College. After college she moved to Huntsville to work at the Redstone Arsenal for 44 years as a GS-11 Technical Information Specialist where she retired.
Bonnie was a member of Jordan Park Church of Christ, Huntsville and affiliated with the Underwood Heights Church of Christ in Petersville.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Vera Underwood; step father, John Underwood; father, Audie Cummings, and brother-in-law, Phillip (P.J.) Rhodes.
Survivors include sisters, Degloris Rhodes, Joyce Smith (John); nieces, Sabrina Reed (Jimmy), Liz McIntyre, Sharon Rhodes (Chris), Teresa Cahoon (James), Lisa Smith; nephew, Byron Smith; several great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers make your contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or charity of your choice.
Family would like to thank Dr. Karr and Alabama Hospice of the Shoals Team. Sherry Davis, Elaine Elkabatz, and Brandi Hogan for their loving care for Bonnie, also Rose Silva a caregiver.
