Bonnie Joan Harp Blanton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2025. She was born September 19, 1942 to Charles Wendel and Julianne Frances Rowell Harp.
Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, Grannie, and friend. She was known for her servant’s heart, warmth, generosity, and strength. She was the fiercest of prayer warriors and very faithful to her church, Baldwin Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was also a nurse for over 40 years and never stopped caring for others much more than she cared for herself. What brought Bonnie the most joy was her grandchildren she saw almost every day. She loved attending their events and being involved in all aspects of their lives. She leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue to inspire her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Harold Lloyd Blanton; step-sons, Charlie and Jeff Blanton, and grandchildren, Lauren Reeves and Jelia Day.
She is survived by her daughter, Bethany (AJ) Lamar and grandchildren, Jay Blanton, Rush, Kathryn, and Karis. She is also survived by her step-children, Gordon (Martha) Blanton, Marsha Bean, Valerie Tollison and grandchildren, Kim Shelton, Shane (Krysti) Blanton, Jodi Day Wallace, Bryan (Beth) Cross, Adrienne (Michael) Gower, Steven (Starr) Parnell, Tyler (Alex) Parnell, Zach (Kristen) Blanton, Caleb Blanton, and 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
