It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie Henson Huggins on October 9, 2023, in Selmer, Tennessee. She was born September 4, 1937, in Yarbro, Arkansas, to the late William David and Eunice Elizabeth Holmes Henson.
Bonnie’s journey began in a small Arkansas town, where she grew up and graduated from Blytheville High School. She married the love of her life, Howard Lee Huggins Sr., on October 28, 1954. As a dedicated Air Force wife, Bonnie embraced a nomadic lifestyle, establishing homes wherever military duty took them.
After Howard’s retirement from the Air Force, the couple decided to embark on a new adventure together. They hit the open road as he worked as a truck driver, traversing highways and making memories along the way. Later in their retirement years, they enjoyed summers in Maine and winters in Florida and North Carolina.
Bonnie had a creative soul and found joy in crafting and working with her hands. She poured her love into the things she created, leaving behind tangible reminders of her talent and passion.
A faithful member of the 4th Street Church of Christ in Selmer, TN, Bonnie found solace and strength within her church community.
Today, we reflect on Bonnie’s remarkable life at the age of 86 Years, 1 Month, and 5 Days. She is survived by her two daughters: Patricia (Huggins) Johnson and husband James L. of Selmer, TN; Elizabeth A. (Huggins) King of Selmer, TN; and a son, Howard L. Huggins Jr. of Glen, MS; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
In the embrace of eternity, Bonnie now joins her beloved husband Howard, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2015. She also mourned the loss of two sons: William F. (Frank) Huggins and Barry M. Huggins, as well as a grandson, Joseph Huggins.
A private family memorial service will be held.
