PHIL CAMPBELL-Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Edward Linzer drowned while swimming in the Bates Landing area. Sheriff Oliver said the area is popular among swimmers who use the rocks there to jump into the water that can measure up to 40 feet deep.
It was reported that Linzer was with his family when he dove from a rock into the water. Members of his family reported seeing Linzer resurface briefly before going back under,then he never came back up.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Franklin County Dive Team, Colbert County Dive Team and Russellville Fire and Rescue were involved in the search operation searching the waters until 10 p.m. Sunday night before returning around 9 a.m. Monday to continue the search. The body was recovered around 4 pm, Monday, June 15th.
