Body of missing man recovered

FLORENCE – The body of Jeremiah Sanders, missing since March 2nd, was recovered this afternoon only a short distance from where search and rescue teams started looking. The recovery took place around 4:00pm today.

Hopes were running high that Sanders’ body would be found Thursday night, when a pilot thought he had spotted a target of interest 11 miles downstream near the Colbert Fossil Plant and Cane Creek boat ramp. But that search, which was ongoing until this afternoon, proved futile.

The recovery of Sanders’ body took place in the water beneath the bluffs on the Sheffield side of Pickwick Lake, just across from McFarland Park in Florence.
