Body Of Hiker Found Near Sweetwater Branch On Natchez Trace Parkway

sweetwaterbranch02tSPRING HILL – Spring Hill, Tennessee Police Department detectives and Natchez Trace
Parkway rangers are investigating the death of Martin Richard Tate, a 47 year-old resident of Spring
Hill, TN. On June 27, 2014, Spring Hill Police issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) for Tate who hadsweetwaterbranch03t
not been seen since Thursday, June 26th. On June 28th, rangers discovered Tate’s vehicle in the
Sweetwater Branch Parking Lot near mile marker 363. Rangers, with the assistance of Wayne County
Sheriff’s deputies, performed a hasty search and discovered Tate’s body in the creek. The initial
investigation indicates Tate died as a resulted of an accidental slip and fall. Agencies assisting with the
recovery include Murray Regional EMS, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies.
