FLORENCE-On Friday, October 4, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers with the Florence Police Department responded to the report of a deceased individual lying in Sweetwater Creek near the intersection of North Patton Street and Sweetwater Avenue. It appears the person has been deceased for a prolonged time. The cause of death and identity of the decedent are still under investigation.
The body is being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
