Bobby Ray Cantrell, age 79 of Athens, passed away Tuesday October 11, 2022.

Mr. Cantrell loved to serve his community, and was a member of East Limestone Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, and was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Fire Department. He was retired from Kroger after 38 years.

His grandkids loved him dearly, and will be remembered as a caring father and grandfather who loved to be out on the farm.

Visitation will be Friday October 14th, at McConnell Funeral Home from 7-8pm. A graveside memorial service will be at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday October 15th at 2pm with Bro. Scott Pepper officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Cantrell; son, Jeffrey Cantrell (Elaine); brothers J.C. Cantrell, and Henry Cantrell (Geraldine); sister, Nancy Watkins (John); grandchildren: Jeffrey “J.R.” Cantrell, Johnathan Cantrell and Kimberly Smith; great-grandchildren: Shane & Skylr Smith and Kaylee Cantrell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Scott Pepper and Keith Brackeen.

He is proceeded in death by his daughter, Vickie Cantrell; brothers: Richard, Gene and Charles Cantrell; and his parents, Jimmy and Avo Cantrell
