Bobby Lynn Nelson, age 71 and a resident of Hohenwald, passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
Bobby was born to LeRoy Wallace and Wilma Cartee in Lawrence County, Alabama on September 26, 1942. He attended Calhoun Community College and served honorably in the United States Military. On December 8, 1969 he married Bennie Sue Runnebaum Nelson. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a jailor with the Sheriff’s department.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife: Bennie Sue Nelson: children: Lisa (Edwin) Kicklighter, Wesley David (Debbie) Fly, Tracy Cartwright and Michael Nelson; grandchildren: Michael Smith, Christopher Fly, Candace (Derek) Metts, Ashley (Brandon) Reyes and Jennifer (Brandon) Williams; great-grandchildren: Megan Williams, Spencer Williams, Chad Smith, Taylar Smith, Jaylene Reyes and Lexi Reyes; siblings: Jimmy (Beverly) Nelson and Pam (James) Estes; nieces and nephews: Deanna Nelson, Stacy (Scotty) Weeks, Jason (Sabrina) Estes, Jim (Christina) Estes, Keith (Charlene) Estes and Jimmy (Lisa) Estes. He is preceded in death by his parents: LeRoy Wallace and Wilma Cartee; children: Travis Lynn Nelson, Sherry Lynn Fisher Swinea and Charles Nelson; and his granddaughter: Jessica Smith.
A memorial service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church on Waynesboro Highway. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 p.m. until time for the memorial service at New Hope Baptist Church.
