Bobby Lewis Meacham, Sr., age 79, resident of Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at 12:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Roberts and Tracy Lovell officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, July 2nd from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home and again on Wednesday from 11:00am until the service hour at the funeral home. After funeral services, it was Bobby’s wish to be cremated. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bobby, also known as Big Bob, was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on July 30, 1944, and was the son of the late Durwood Meacham and the late Ethel Waggner Meacham. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. He worked for Maury County recycling center on Pulaski Highway for about 14 years and retired from General Motors after 25 years. Bobby enjoyed fishing, sports, and collecting different items. He especially liked watching his son, Little Bob, succeed in sports. He cherished time spent with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Diane Hargis Meacham; son, Bobby (Amy) Lewis Meacham, Jr. of Columbia; brothers, Randall (Karen) Meacham of Hopkinsville, KY and Gary (Bertha) Meacham of Lexington, KY; brother-in-law, Randy (Dorothy) Hargis of Bowling Green, KY; and granddaughter, Telina Meacham.
Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jimmy Cowan.
