Bobby Lewis Chittam age 84 of Athens, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Chittam was born September 23, 1931 in Limestone County, AL to Jeff Chittam and Odell Bridges Chittam.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Guy McDaniel and Mike Pressnell officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Chittam was a lifelong member of O’Neal Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon for over 40 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950- 1953, and retired from NASA in 1986 after 30 years of service.
Preceded in death by his father, Jeff Chittam; mother, Odell Bridges Chittam; one brother, Ronald Chittam.
Survived by his wife, Carolyn Johnson Chittam; one son, Terry Chittam and wife, Donna; two daughters, Debra Johnson and husband, Danny and Sherry Patterson and husband, Jim; six grandchildren, Patrick Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Heath Patterson, Holly Patterson, Haley Hudson and Makayla Chittam; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Billie Clem and Joyce Moffitt; three brothers, Randolph Chittam, Hubert Chittam and Wade Chittam.
