Bobby was a lifelong resident and farmer in Cherokee, attended Cherokee United Methodist Church, and was an ardent believer in the Lord.
Bobby served in the Alabama National Guard and the United States national Reserve. He was a certified Rifle MI Sharpshooter. His rank was sergeant.
He was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. He never met a stranger and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and their frequent gatherings with friends during cookouts and celebrations.
Bobby spent many hours watching his favorite team, The Crimson Tide, play football. Very seldom did anyone see him without one of his favorite caps.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Pearl Thompson Waldrep; father, William Neal Waldrep; and brother, Billy Neal Waldrep.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Marie Granger Waldrep; son, Michael Joe Waldrep; daughter, Janice Marie Waldrep Pounders (John); grandchildren, Ashley Marie Pounders, Josh and Justin Pounders; great-grandchildren, Stormi Grace and Rosealie; sister-in-law, Helen Rich Waldrep; nephew, William Greg Waldrep; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Garner, Jim Bishop, Ronnie Askew, Charles Hovater, Tommy Pounders, Jerry Collinsworth, Jeff Box, and Jason Borden. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Waldrep.
A special thanks goes to Hospice of North Alabama, and the doctors and nurses at North Alabama Medical Center, as well as the Cherokee Rescue Squad for their help and assistance.
