Bobby Joe Pitts – Obituary

Bobby Joe Pitts was born August 14, 1936 to the late Herschel H. and Roxie Ellis Pitts of Milledgeville, TN. He departed this life Sunday, January 8, 2017.

Bobby was a 1955 graduate of Adamsville High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to Anna Lou Majors June 9, 1961 and the couple made their home in Adamsville, TN where they raised two sons. Bobby worked as a plant manager in the garment and aftermarket automotive supply industries until retiring to pursue a lifelong interest in automobiles by opening a small, independent car dealership in Adamsville. He was a knowledgeable and avid collector of automobile memorabilia, license plates, and petroliana. He also enjoyed travel, reading history, and spending time with his adoring granddaughters. Bobby was a member of the Adamsville church of Christ where he served many faithful years as a deacon.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a son, Barry C. Pitts; brother, Bill Pitts; sisters, Mattie Louise Pitts, Mable Mabry and husband Gene, Lucille Presley Hanna and husbands Robert Presley and Otha Hanna, Kate Phillips and husband Elmer Lee, Gerri Seaton and husband Bill, Betty Jean Pitts, and Rena Brooks and husband Parker.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Lou Pitts of Adamsville, TN; one son, Shawn Pitts and wife Joanna of Selmer, TN; three granddaughters: Emily Pitts Donahoe and husband Payden of South Bend, IN, Allie Pitts of Selmer, TN and Mollie Pitts Lacey of Adamsville, TN; a brother, Steve Pitts and wife Barbara of Adamsville, TN; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
