Bobby Joe Norman, age 86, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 9, 1937, in Maury County, Bobby was the son of the late Albert Perry Norman and the late Lois Cummins Norman. He married Alma Ruth Hyatt Norman on June 27, 1953; she preceded him in death on July 23, 2022. They were long time members of Scribner’s Mill Church of Christ.
Bobby worked in construction and carpentry for many years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He previously worked for Industrial Contractors and W.M. White Construction. Prior to that, he was a truck driver for several years, a security guard at Maury Regional Medical Center, and a Constable for the Maury County Sheriff’s Department. Bobby was a longtime member of the Bigbyville Masonic Lodge # 167. He enjoyed camping, fishing, square dancing with his wife, and attending Blue Grass festivals. He was a hard worker who could fix anything.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Gary) Howell of Columbia, son, Randy Norman of Columbia, grandchildren, Bobby Cox, Amanda Howell (Dan) Castillo, Brittany (Scott) Furno, Joshua (Lily) Howell, Chelsea Howell, Samantha (Matt) Howington, Jack (Destiny) Norman, great grandchildren, Raven Castillo, Benny Howell, Oliver Howington, Landon Donavon, Ashton Furno, Hunter Jaxon Norman, Luna Howington, step siblings, Judy Hickman, Mary Ruth (Perry) Pugh, Frankie Dee Harwell, Jimmy Harwell, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Cox, and brothers, Billy James Norman and Buddy Norman.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Howell, Matthew Howington, Sean Ryan, Jack Norman, Mason Campbell, and Landon Donavon. Honorary pallbearers will include Nick Austin, Dan Castillo, and members of Scribner’s Mill Church of Christ.
