Bobby Glenn Turner, beloved parent, grandparent, brother, uncle, friend, and preacher died in Athens, Alabama, on Sunday, October 23, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mr. Turner was born July 13, 1933, in Athens, Limestone County, Alabama, to Thalcum Clayton Turner and Ruth Ilene Bridges Turner.
Mr. Turner was the proprietor of the Turner Shell Service Station from 1959 until its closing in 1989. He worked for CPI in Athens, was the preacher at Hayes Mill Church of Christ, and a school bus driver for Limestone County.
Upon the death of his father in 1970, he became a member of Northside Church of Christ where he followed in his father’s footsteps and lead singing, and eventually becoming an elder. He had a lifelong love of trains. He created the Indian Valley Railroad in his garage using HO scale model trains, and later expanded to garden scale trains in the backyard. He also enjoyed restoring classic Mustangs.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 26. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Turner leaves behind two sons, Timothy Clayton Turner, and spouse Danie Griffin-Turner of Tallahassee, Florida, and Bobby Scott Turner, and spouse Michael Ray Robertson of West Hills, California.
He also leaves behind his beautiful granddaughters, Jordan Alyssa Turner of Tallahassee, Florida; Carlin Olivia Rasky of Portland, Oregon; and Miranda Josephine Rasky of Tallahassee, Florida.
Mr. Turner is survived by his two brothers, Charles Harold Turner of Athens, and Roger Thalcum Turner, and wife Daisee Lou Cole Turner, of Decatur, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
