Bobby Eugene Daniel, 85, of Huntsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in Crestwood Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Dukemineer Daniel; son, Thomas J. Daniel (Julie) of Dacula, GA, and daughter, Deborah Daniel Thomas (David) of Venice, FL. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Alexander Thomas of Whitinsville, MA; Andrew Thomas of Cambridge, MA; and Katherine Daniel, also of Dacula; and three great-grandchildren: Theo, Virginia and Welles Thomas, of Whitinsville.
Besides his immediate family, Mr. Daniel is survived by two sisters: Connie Counts of Huntsville, and Linda Hargrove of Madison, and by his beloved nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Carter Daniel; father, Robert E. Daniel, and by six brothers and a sister, all of Huntsville.
A charter employee of the newly formed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Daniel moved in the early 1970’s from Huntsville to Research Triangle Park, NC, where the new agency’s premier research facility was headquartered. Previously, he served as a engineering technician at Rohm & Haas Co. in Huntsville. He retired in 1996 and moved with his wife back to Huntsville.
An avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Mr. Daniel adored talking about every aspect of football and the prospects of each new season. He loved to share his many stories about his favorite players and teams, past and present, including the Boston Red Sox.
A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, he was a member of Cove Church in Hampton Cove. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, July 16th at River Hills Church, 1635 Winchester Road, Huntsville. Visitation will be from 3:30 -4:30 PM, followed by service at 4:30 with Pastor Stephen Hampton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
