Bobby Dale Phillips, 63, of New Hope, Alabama, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, after a brief illness.

Born to Linda Archer Phillips and Billy Harold Phillips and raised in Huntsville, he was a lifelong resident of Alabama.

Bobby attended Butler High School; following graduation, he studied at UA Huntsville, the US Army Flight School, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Bobby flew Chinooks and Black Hawk Helicopters for the US Army; his service included over seventy wartime missions.  His abiding love for flying is reflected in the multiple small aircraft he built and flew for most of his adult life.  Prior to retirement, he worked for the US Postal Service in Guntersville.

Bobby was preceded by his parents and his brother, Terry Alan Phillips.  He is survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the medical staff of Huntsville Hospital and Legacy of Hope for their compassionate and professional care of our nephew, cousin, and friend.

No service is planned at this time.
