SEPTEMBER 18, 1929 – MAY 10, 2024

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Bobby D. Minyard, 94, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, May 10, 2024. The Rev. Phillip Mathis will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Collier-Butler and Cremation Services.

Mr. Minyard was a member of Walnut Park Baptist Church and a veteran of the

U S Navy having served in the Korean War. He retired from the State of Alabama. Mr. Minyard, affectionately known as “Dee Dee”, was an avid tennis player and played until he was in his 90’s.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary E. Minyard; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Minyard; sister, Florine Minyard Silvey; brother, Royce Minyard; daughter, Judy McCullough and grandson, Brian Bannister.

Mr. Minyard is survived by his daughter, Lisa Minyard Silvey (Randy); son, Jim Bannister (Susan); grandsons, John Silvey, Bo Harris and Kelly B. Harris; granddaughters, Jamie Silvey Steward (Jeremy) and Beth Bannister Armstrong (Charles); eight great grandsons, Jackson Steward, Jayden Steward, Fisher Silvey, Ty Harris, Tab Harris, Thad Harris, Eli Harris and Elliott Armstrong; one great great grandson, Tristen Harris; sister, Joyce Minyard Stephens (Ken) and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Walnut Park Baptist Church, 300 Wilson Street, Gadsden, AL 35904.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
