Elder Bobby Collins, 69, of Killen died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at ECM Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2015, at Elkins East Chapel from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Elgin Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church at 2 PM with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Bro. Collins will lie in state from 1-2 PM at the church, burial will be at Butler Cemetery.
Since being ordained to preach in 1972, he served as Pastor at Elgin Crossroads PBC (Elgin, AL), Sweetgum Flat PBC (Lexington, AL), Hurricane Springs PBC (Anderson, AL), Hackleburg PBC (Hackleburg, AL), Desert Hope PBC (Bloomfield, NM) Sulphur Springs PBC (Caledonia, MS), and St. Andrews PBC (Panama City, FL). He enjoyed helping to provide sermons and religious books to make them easily available online. He loved to go fishing and travel and spent lots of time with his family.
Bro. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Wilson and Venela Jarvis Collins.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley V. (Holden) Collins; three daughters, Regina Foster (Eric), Jennifer Burt (Rich), and Amy Francisco (Randy); seven grandchildren, Seth, Kristen, and Jacob Foster, Jaimee Ruth Burt, Gracie, Breanna, and Alexis Francisco; sister, Mary L. Collins; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
Pallbearers will be Eric Foster, Randy Francisco, Rich Burt, Seth Foster, Anthony Holden, Joey Thomas, Greg Thomas, and Daniel Holden. Honorary pallbearers will be Lelon Holden and G Barringer.
Special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. Mitch Bowen, along with the 6th floor nursing staff at ECM. Also, to dear family friend Gary Green.
