Bobbie Sue Newman Profile Photo Bobbie Sue Newman age 89, passed away July 25, 2023, at her home.

She was born September 12, 1933,  in the Montezuma community in Chester County, the daughter of the late A. U. Newman and Tracy Magdalene Holloway Newman. She grew up in Chester County and  was a 1951 graduate of Chester County High School and was Class President. She then attended Freed-Hardeman College and earned an associate degree, then later earned a bachelor’s degree from Freed Hardeman.

She began her banking career with First State Bank in Henderson in 1953 and worked there sixty years retiring in 2013 as senior Vice President.

She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ and The Business and Professional Women’s Club.

She enjoyed spending time with her “Buddy” Parsons and traveling.

Ms. Newman is survived by eleven nieces and nephews and multiple great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to caregivers, Lori Thomas, Georgia Finch, Rita Wilson, Carolyn Moore, Johnnie Leopard and many more.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Quinten Newman and three sisters, Georgia Galbraith, Imogene Smith and Julia Ann Pitts and a lifetime friend and companion, Buddy Parsons.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 29th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
