Bobbie Jean Springer – Obituary

BobbieSFC (Ret.) Bobbie Jean Springer, 81, of Rogersville passed away Saturday, November 9th, 2013 at Limestone Health Facility.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m.at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service
will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Phil Springer officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Bobby White III, Daniel White, Benjamin Phillips, Jeremy Workman, Jesse Dison, Tyler Dison and Adam Strickland.

Mr. Springer served four years in the United States Navy and 20 years in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. His service record includes the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medals (4), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Expert Carbine, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

He was preceded in death by his newborn daughter, Marcia Springer; parents, Anne Gladys (Thornton) Springer and Joseph Allen Springer; brothers, Hoyt Springer, Alvoid Springer and Carl “Wiggy” Springer; sister, Bettie Jo (Springer) Chandler; nieces, Ladon (Springer) Trousdale, Patsy (Springer) Graham, Pamela (Springer) Dison and Linda Sue Holden. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Jean (Burbank) Springer; son, Bobby Glen Springer; daughters, Linda (Bobby) White, Barbara (Tab) Dunham, Karen (Steve) Workman, Lisa (Murray) Strickland and Brenda (Tim) Dison; 14 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Arlon (Faye) Springer, Royce (Wanda) Springer and Terry Shanes “Shaney” Springer and sister, Martha Nell (Elvis) Beasley.
