Mrs. Davis departed this life on Friday, March 18, 2022, at DeSoto Healthcare in Southaven, MS. She would have celebrated her 93rd birthday this coming June 3rd.

Born and reared during the Great Depression, she was the daughter of the late Charlie B. Shelly and Mae Dell Yopp Shelly. In January, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Robert Davis who preceded her in death on September 26, 1979. After living in the Middleton/Rogers Springs area in her younger years, she moved to Memphis around 1954. While there, she worked as a secretary for Bluff City Electronics.

A faithful member of the Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven, MS, she was a member of the TLC’s, a benevolent work of the church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed yard work, gardening, and time spent with family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. One of her fondest memories was when her entire family gathered together to celebrate her 90th birthday in 2019.

She leaves two daughters, Dianne (Gary) Webb of Batesville, MS and Nancy (Jay Allen) Cole of Olive Branch, MS; one sister, Shirley Foshee of Southaven, MS; four grandchildren, Robin (Marc) Walling of Smithville, AR, Renee (Andrew) Weidman of Rogers, AR, Russell (Ashley) Webb of Germantown and Aaron (Andrea) Cole of Hernando, MS; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and “one on the way”.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Weaver and Ruby McKeown; one brother, Arnold Shelly; and grandson, Mark Cole.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of DeSoto Healthcare, Southaven and Chaplain Eddie Randolph and Baptist Hospice – Batesville for their wonderful care of Mrs. Davis in her final days.
