Mrs. Blanche Pearl Horton (88) of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away on September 9, 2024, at Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Scottsboro, Alabama. She was born on November 1,1935 in Hollywood, Alabama to Cornelia and Jonah Stewart.

Blanche was united in Holy Matrimony to Lewis William Horton (L.W.) on June 11, 1954. L.W. preceded her in death on June 19, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her mother, father, sister (Ruby Garner) son (Michael Horton) and an infant great-granddaughter.

She attended school at G.W. Carver High School in Scottsboro, Al.

Mrs. Horton professed Christ at an early age and united with St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama. She served on the Mother’s Board and was a member of the kitchen committee. She later joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hollywood, Alabama under the leadership of Rev. Robert Winn. She served on the Mission Board and the Mother’s Board until her health failed.

She was a retired control room operator with Goodyear Tire and Rubber, with 25+ years of service.

Mrs. Horton leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Deborah Harris (Marshall) and son Gregory Horton. A devoted daughter-in-law, Vickie Horton. 5 granddaughters: Sherita Sanford, Elizabeth Lewis (Lemuel), Lori Horton, Crystal Horton, and Kchristynia Allen. 7 grandsons; Michael Green, Mikhael (Tre’) Horton, DeCarlo Davis, Ivan Horton, Bryan Horton, Jimmy Hendrix and Jonathan Poe. 21 Great-grandchildren and 10 great -great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Horton will be held at 1:30 on Sunday, September 15 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Hollywood, Alabama. The funeral services will begin at 2:30 at the church.
