Graveside Funeral service and entombment for Bishop Morris H. Bates, 67, will be Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, Alabama with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Bates died on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 15, 1950, in Texas to Morris Henry Bates and Gracie Ola Melvin-Sutton Bates. He was a pastor for 42 years in the Church of God of Prophecy from which he retired on August 1st of 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents.
