 ATTENTION BIRDWATCHERS!
It’s that time of year again when the temperature starts to drop, icicles begin to form, and the white pelicans grace us with their presence! One of the largest North American birds, the American white pelican is majestic in the air. These birds soar with incredible steadiness on broad, white-and-black wings. Their large heads and huge, heavy bills give them a prehistoric look.  Take a hike at Joe Wheeler State Park and watch for pelicans, eagles, loons, herons, cormorants, gulls, ducks, and geese.
