Billy Wayne Wilson was born March 8, 1949 in Corinth, MS, the son of the late Harris Woodrow and Sarah Virginia Thompson Wilson. He started logging at a very young age and was driving a log truck at the age of nine. Billy was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Coats on June 23, 1967. Mrs. Wilson preceded him in death on August 26, 2011. In 1969, he started working on a pipeline before returning to logging. Billy worked in logging for 66 years for almost everyone around the county. He then retired and started farming. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where he was song director and Sunday School Superintendent.. He was song leader at the nursing home in Bolivar and served on their grievance committee. Billy enjoyed being a shade tree mechanic, fishing, playing cards, and dominoes. Mr. Wilson departed this life on August 20, 2017 in Nashville, TN at the age of 68 Years, 5 Months, 12 Days.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Ann Hurst and husband Jeff of Hornsby, TN; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hurst, Joseph Neal Hurst, Anna Grace Hurst; a brother, Danny Joe Wilson and wife Tina of Pickwick Dam, TN; a sister, Freida Wilson Cavaness and husband Chad of Counce, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley McCullar, Jenell McMahan, Sarah Luther. He was also preceded in death by a baby brother.
