Billy Wayne BagwellBilly Wayne Bagwell, age 90, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12pm Saturday, May 25th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Evan Bagwell, Ethan Bagwell, Casey Hahn, Preston Hahn, Walt Chitwood III, Shane Bagwell, Clayton Bagwell, and Jack Bagwell serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10am until time of the service at 12pm Saturday, May 25th at the funeral home.

Mr. Bagwell was born April 11, 1934, in Springfield, to the late Walter and Bessie Ellis Bagwell. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany from 1954-55. Mr. Bagwell worked as a Printer for Nashville Electrographics Company for 42 years.

Mr. Bagwell was an avid fisherman, nature lover, and University of Tennessee fan. He loved his family, telling stories, singing, playing football, antique cars, and old movies about the wild west, especially starring John Wayne. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing and watching wildlife on the lake in front of his home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Krisle Bagwell; and brothers, Vincent Bagwell, Roy Bagwell, and James Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by his sons, Bill (Laura) Bagwell Jr., Dwayne (Pam) Bagwell, Derrick Bagwell, and Dale Bagwell; daughters, Deborah (Keith) Gann, and Denise (Walter) Chitwood; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Bagwell, Bobby Bagwell, and Johnny Bagwell; and sisters, Elizabeth McClard, Norma Jean Sowell, and Nancy Heatherly.

Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
