Billy Ray Rogers, 84, of Corinth passed away on January 23, 2023 at home surrounded by those he loved the most, his children and grandchildren. He was born in Corinth, MS on November 5, 1938 to the late Arthur Cythe “Dude” and Dora Burcham Rogers. Billy was a hairdresser for over 64 years. He was a graduate of the Greta Deal School of Beauty with advanced graduate courses at Pivot Point and Vidal Sassoon beauty schools. Billy started his career in Chicago where his mom moved him and his younger sisters to be by their older siblings after his father’s death.
Billy spent the last 44 years of his career in Corinth, acting not only as a hairdresser, but also as a therapist and comedian to his clients, many who he has had for the past 44 years. Billy was full of life and always the center of attention. He had the most infectious laugh and everyone knew when he was in the room. Being a people person, he enjoyed his work, dealing with not only his women clients, but the men as well. He was always the jokester and prankster and loved telling his stories. Making others laugh brought him such joy. Billy was not only a talented hairdresser, but he was also very gifted with his hands, being an accomplished artist and gardener, and even dabbled with ceramics and sewing.
Those left to honor Billy’s memory include his beloved children, Billy R Rogers, Jr of Olive Branch, MS, Valli Rogers Stone and husband Robert of Corinth, MS, Christian Keir Rogers of Cordova, TN, his precious grandchildren, Rebecca L Rogers, Christian H Stone and wife Marlie, Cythe K Stone and Gabrielle B Rogers, a sister Sue Harville and many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, his family has comfort knowing he is reunited with his cherished wife, Elaine J Rogers, their treasured daughter Leslie Blythe Rogers, his brothers Jim Rogers, Clifford Rogers, Bobby Rogers, and sisters Pauline Hendrix, Dollie Hutson, Mary June Lowery, Jane Bascomb and JoAnne Becht.
Pallbearers will be Christian Keir Rogers, Billy R Roger Jr, Christian H Stone, Cythe K Stone, Robert H Stone, Lew Johnson and Taylor Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
