Our family’s favorite military veteran and beloved patriarch, Billy Ray Lindsey has been called to his final duty assignment in heaven. He was the youngest of ten children and is preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Ossie Lindsey, beloved wife Etta Sue Lindsey; daughter, Cheryl Kocurek; three brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by his son, Ray Lindsey; daughter, Lynn Barnwell her husband Ray; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Billy served twenty-one years in the United States Air Force with multiple assignments in the U.S. and overseas. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in the Viet Nam conflict along with multiple other military awards and accolades. After retiring from the USAF in 1973, he settled in the Hightown community in Alcorn County, MS. where he farmed and raised cattle before moving on to long haul trucking. After final retirement at the age of 70, he moved to Corinth, MS> where he remained until his passing. His primary hobby in retirement was maintaining his eleven-acre estate, which is beautiful to behold, which was a second only to his love for his family.
Graveside Service will follow later at the Corinth National Cemetery.
