Billy Ray James passed away peacefully during the morning of February 25, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. A graveside service for Mr. James will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. James served his country with honor in the U.S. Army. He was last stationed at Thule Air-force base, located in Greenland.
He subsequently spent his career as a quality control inspector for the U.S. Army at Redstone Arsenal. Upon retirement, Mr. James had a successful residential stucco business.
He was a man of utmost character and honesty. He was an active member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church. He constructed the reliquary that houses the relic in the sanctuary of the church, as well as installing the stations of the cross throughout the nave of the church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sara Jane, his beautiful daughter, Denise Carden (Todd), his wonderful grandchildren Mason Carden and Ali Carden and his blessed great grandchildren Lillie Carden and Brix Carden.
Mr. James was an accomplished artist, businessman, carpenter, gardener, and father.
He devoted his life to his beloved wife, Sara, and his family.
