Billy Ray Hammond – Obituary

Billy Ray Hammond , age 79, of Lexington, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was a native of Lauderdale County, Ala., worked for the Alabama State Highway Department and a member of Lexington Church of Christ. Funeral Services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Danny Pettus will be officiating. Burial will follow in Second Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Survivors are

two brothers, Buford Hammond, Nashville, Tenn.,

Larry Hammond and wife, Becky, Muscle Shoals, Ala.;

three sisters, Dorothy Thigpen, Lexington, Ala., Cretha Russell and husband, James, Killen, Ala., Betty McGee and husband, Jimmy, Lexington, Ala.

He is preceded in death by

parents, J.R. “Pete” and Isabel Howard Hammond;

brother, Gerald Hammond; brother-in-law, A. W. Thigpen.

Pallbearers will be Buford Hammond, Larry Hammond, Scott McGee, Stephen Hammond, Jeffrey Hammond, and Cameron Peters.
