HENDERSON, TN – Billy Joe Wheatley, 69, passed away Nov. 27, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Arrangements were handled by Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel. He was born March 17, 1944 in Chester County, the son of the late Flossie Cupples. He served in the Navy from 1961 until 1965 as a Gunner and Gunners mate. He was a member of the Joint Task Force 8 and participated in Nuclear Test in the Pacific Operation Dominic. After leaving the Navy he worked at Chester Manufacturing and with the Mississippi River Barge System. He has no surviving children or living relatives. -Published in the Chester County Independent on December 5, 2013.
