Billy Joe Pope, age 72, of Waynesboro, TN, passed away on December 15 , 2024. He was born on November 2, 1952, in Hohenwald, TN, the son of the late Robert and Margaret Walker Pope.
Billy’s journey through life was marked by a deep love for his family and a dedicated work ethic. He married his beloved wife, Rebecca Ann Creecy, on August 24, 1973, starting a partnership that would bring joy and harmony to their lives for many years.
For 47 fulfilling years, Billy contributed his skills and talents as a machinist and supervisor at Lincoln Brass Manufacturing Company. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or tending to his animals, Billy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. His favorite moments often included riding around to spot deer or spending time in his yard, where he would find peace in nature’s beauty.
Billy leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories shared and the love he spread throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann Creecy Pope of Waynesboro, TN; daughters, Jennifer Broome (Gaylon) of Collinwood, TN, and Julie Cruce (Corey) of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Bailey Daniel (Jace), Makenzie Broome, Sinjin Cruce, Jagger Cruce, and Timber Cruce; Godson, Austin Rees; “adopted” grandchildren, Michael and Gabe Lang; and several other nephews, nieces, family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Pope; and sisters, Lib Nutt and Burma Odle.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro ,TN.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN. Burial to follow in Balcum Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
