Billy Joe Pickens, 81, of Florence, passed away February 15, 2023. He was retired from Reynolds Aluminum.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Greenview Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. with military honors. Officiating will be Rev. Timmy Ray.
Billy is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Kendra Leigh Gibson; grandson, Wesley Lee Gibson; sister, Mary Nona Parrish, nieces and nephews, and a dear friend and cousin, Don Pickens.
Billy served in the United States Air Force. He then served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne and received an honorable discharge with National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He fought in Vietnam war and returned home with PTSD. He served his country well.
Billy was a kind and generous man and father. We miss you so much.
