Mr. Billy Joe Parris, age 86, passed away at his residence on June 3rd 2023. A memorial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Parris was a resident of Clay County and worked hard all of his life to take care of his wife of 65 years, Clara, and their large family. He worked for several years at Russell manufacturing as a Turnpike operator and also a foundry worker. He enjoyed farming and gardening, hunting, and fishing. One of his true joys was his love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billy had a good sense of humor and like a good joke and to tease his family and friends, and also was an avid Crimson Tide fan, especially football.
Mr. Parris is survived by his wife, Clara Jean Parris of Ashland; his daughters, Sue Wilder (Goodwater), Gail Moncus (Ricky) of Ashland, Donna Fell (James) of Montgomery, Tammy Traywick (Donald) of Coosa County, Janice Evans (Jeff) of Wadley; his sons, James Parris (Pam) of Ashland, Billy Parris (Crystal) of Ashland, Marlon Parris of Ashland, and Sam Parris of Ashland; eighteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Parris is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Parris and Alma Ruby Hendon Parris
