Billy Joe “B. J.” Copeland, Jr., 56, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at his home in Tremont. He was born May 10, 1957, the son of Billy Joe Copeland, Sr., and Joy Friday Copeland Walton. He was reared by his mother and step-father, John Walton. He was a 1975 graduate of Mantachie High School and attended Itawamba Junior College where he played football. He was a factory and construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar, and entertaining people.
There will be no public services. Burial will be in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery. McNeece – Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Seth Houston Copeland, of Tupelo; one daughter, Kathryn Olivia Dancy (Adam) of Peppertown; one half-brother, Tim Copeland; two-half sisters, Sherri Speck (Mike), and Juli Turner, all of Shannon Three grandchildren, Houston Copeland, Greylynn Copeland, and Maddy Kathryn Dancy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joy and John Walton and Billy Joe Copeland, Sr.; his grandparents, Guy Houston and Jewel Friday, and Noon and Jean Walton; and one half-brother, Kipper Copeland.
