Billy Hugh Ashburn of Huntsville, Alabama passed away at his home on March 24th, 2023, at the age of 90.
Bill was born on January 25th, 1933, to Robert and Ola Ashburn in Gurley, Alabama. After graduating from Huntsville High School in 1951, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War.
While owning and managing various businesses over the years, he was best known in the community for co-owning and managing Pin Palace Lanes. Bill and wife Shirley were also dedicated members of Twickenham Church of Christ.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers Robert Edward, Virgil, and Cecil; and sister Rita. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children Jim Ashburn (Greta), John Ashburn (Jennifer), and Allison Lynch (Scott); and ten grandchildren; Shirley’s children Mike Seal (Sandra) and Terri Russel (Chris); her two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Twickenham Church of Christ. The service will follow at the church with Jody Vickery officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hacienda of Hope Children’s Home in Ecuador, c/o Twickenham Church of Christ.
