Billy G. Haley, age 88 of Kansas, AL, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife Joanne(Joni) and his daughters Cindy Sims(Andy) and Kelly Mitchell(Keith).

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Collins Burke Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nauvoo.

Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his Son-Richard Lee Haley; Daughter-Victoria Lynn Haley; Mother-Callie Smith Haley; Father-Vester Haley; Brothers-Ellis Haley, Odis Haley, Earl Haley, Bob Haley, and R.L. Haley; Sisters-Grace Buzbee, Mildred Davis, and Faye Nell Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and their spouses, Daughter-in-law-Gilda Haley; Sisters-Jimmie Sue Norris and Betty Alexander; Sister-in-law-Sally Haley.

Mr. Haley worked many years as a welder at Pullman Standard in Bessemer, where he formed many friendships and improved his joke telling skills. He also worked at the B&D Machine Shop in Jasper.

He served in the Air Force(1952-1956) during the Korean War and was stationed in Texas and Hawaii. He was a member of the American Legion Post 101 in Carbon Hill, AL.

He often said his greatest accomplishment was his family. He leaves behind 7 Grandchildren-Candice Matthews(Todd), Emily Hallman(Chase), Forest Haley, Clay Haley(Jamie), Sarah Benton(Skyler), Brooks Haley, Will Haley(Makaela); Step Grandchildren-Sarina Mitchell, Branda Siderius(Chris), NIcole Jones, Mark Miller(Katie); Great Grandchildren-Drew and Gus Matthews, Grayson and Isla Hallman, Ricky and Kathleen Haley, Sophia Benton, Ellie Haley, and Harper Siderius.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Johnson, SouthEast Hospice, and Mr. Haley’s special nurse, Kayla.
