Billy Cuan Hargrove, age 67 of Athens, passed away Monday January 25, 2021, at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Mr. Hargrove, an Elkmont High School graduate, spent most of his life as a resident of Limestone County, with a brief period of time in Tuscaloosa before returning to Limestone County. He was a former member of the Alabama National Guard. He was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. Mr. Hargrove spent the last 16 years working for Hawkins Groundwork, Inc. as a machine operator and mechanic. He was a talented mechanic, hard worker, and dedicated to his job. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loved to watch the Tide play football. Most of all, Mr. Hargrove was a kind, loving, and sincere person. He loved his family and was always there to help out however he was needed and loved being able to share in all of their accomplishments. He will truly be missed by so many that loved him dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021, at 1:00pm at Athens Memory Gardens, with Robert Fudge, Brent Hawkins, and Jerry Newby speaking. Pallbearers will be Matthew Lynn, Jerry Smith, Jessie Hobbs, Bryan Turner, Bodie Hawkins, and Sloan Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Hawkins Groundwork Family.

He is survived by his mother, Marvilene Croley Hargrove; brother, David (Regina) Hargrove; sister, Becky (Joel) Lynn; nephew, Matthew (Sherri) Lynn; nieces, Amy (Richard) Todd, Mitzi (Eric) Woodfin, Brianne Hargrove, Emma Hargrove, and a host of cousins and friends.
Mr. Hargrove is preceded in death by his father, James V. “Jimmy” Hargrove.
