Billy Carl Cromwell – Obituary

Billy Carl Cromwell was born on July 10, 1935 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late Marcus Delonzo and Cora Lucille Hulen Cromwell.

On June 13, 1957 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Anne Fowler, who survives.

Prior to his retirement, Billy worked as a Towboat Captain for Crounse Corporation and Midland Marine. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. Billy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and working jigsaw puzzles with his great granddaughter, Harper. Most of all, he loved his family and his church. His greatest joy was found in helping others.

Billy Cromwell departed this life on January 11, 2018 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 1 day.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Cromwell of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Bill Cromwell and his wife Jana, Susan Vickery and her husband Greg, and Laura Umphrey and her husband Keith, all of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, Jimmy Dee Cromwell of Adamsville, Tennessee; sister, Betty Ann Bigbie of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Sara Kate Cromwell, Melissa Cromwell, Zachary Umphrey, Eric Umphrey, Elee Umphrey, Addison Vickery, and Cameron Vickery; great grandchildren Harper Maness, Marleigh Umphrey, Madelyn Umphrey, and Landon Umphrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Denton Cromwell.
