Billy Boone Hobbs – Obituary

billyBilly Boone Hobbs, 86, of Florence, passed away January 12, 2016 at his residence. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Florence; a deacon; Sunday school teacher; and served on various committees; 33rd Degree Mason; a member of Union Lodge #38, Kingston, TN; a former member of the Lions Club; and served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Billy was a graduate of Tulane University, retired from TVA as the Branch Chief of the Western Area Radiological Laboratory in Muscle Shoals.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5-7 p.m.at the First Baptist Church Atrium in Florence. The funeral service will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the church with the Reverend Kevin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hobbs was preceded in death by his brother, Marion Hobbs.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Parsons Hobbs; sons, William A. Hobbs (Glendis) of Hernando, MS, Joel B. Hobbs (Patti) of Matthews, NC; daughter, Laura Hobbs Perkins of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Shirley Denny of London, KY; grandchildren, Will Hobbs, Chris Hobbs, Chip Perkins, Danny Hobbs, Kathleen Hobbs, Katie Hobbs Rue, Jonathan Perkins, Ryan Hobbs, and Joey Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Emma Hobbs, Lily Hobbs, Hannah Rue, Mason Rue.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Will Hobbs, Chris Hobbs, Chip Perkins, Jonathan Perkins, Danny Hobbs, Ryan Hobbs, and Joey Hobbs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Florence Building Fund.
