Billie Cross Profile PhotoBillie Nell Cross, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, passed away peacefully on August 27 at the age of ninety-three. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am with Bro. Randy Copeland and Bro. Neil Carter officiating. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and made-from-scratch pound cakes touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Cross, her daughter-in-law, Janet Cross, her grandchildren, Jeanne and Ethan Cross, her granddaughters-in-law, Gessica Cross and Katie Cross, and her great-grandson, Will Cross, who will remember her for her effervescent joy and love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleatus Cross, her son, Monty Cross, her parents, Bessie Dutton Montgomery and Charlie C. “Dyke” Montgomery, and her brothers, John C. Montgomery and Collins Montgomery.

Billie Nell’s legacy of faith and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A special thanks to her current caregivers: Holly, Hope, and Tammy, and to Enhabit Hospice staff: Emily, Brittany, Brooke, Chasity, and Chaplain Nelson Stokes. A heartfelt thanks to all her caregivers during the last five years! Your love and care for Billie Nell and her family will never be forgotten.

Pallbearers will be John Cross, Keith Cross, David Cross, Mark Montgomery, Lynn Stockton, Jerry Armor, John Montgomery, and Ethan Cross. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Montgomery, Perry Barrett, Kent Gilley, Leonard Pearson, Vernon Parker, Ralph Burnett, Joey Montgomery, Allan Pickens, Mike Heflin, Keith Aston, Tony Stockton, John McKelvey, and Phillip Porter.
