Billie Jean Autry Brooks was born April 7, 1937 in Masseyville, TN the daughter of the late Lynn and Morine Roland Autry.
She was united in marriage to Bobby Lynn Brooks on June 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2001 following 46 years of marriage.
A gracious and determined lady, Billie possessed a determination to accomplish anything she set her mind to. For almost five decades, from 1964 to 2012, she worked with flowers, cultivating a deep passion for floristry. During this time, Billie had the honor of being the former owner of the Flower Box as well as the Floral Connection.
Billie was very athletic. She started playing softball at a young age and played well into her 70s. She was also known to play pickup basketball games. She was a 55 plus year member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee, as well as a member of the Eastern Star. Her faith guided her actions, spreading kindness and compassion wherever she went.
Mrs. Brooks departed this life on January 2, 2024 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 8 Months, 26 Days.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Brooks and wife Diane of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Kelly Weatherford and husband Lee of Selmer, TN; a sister, Jo Ross of Toone, TN; four grandchildren: Kristi Kizer of Franklin, TN, Mandi Mulder and husband Syd of Brentwood, TN, Brooks Weatherford and wife Jenny of Selmer, TN, and Maggie Carroll and husband Lance of Selmer, TN; ten great-grandchildren: Grant Kizer of Arlington, VA, Meg Kizer of Charleston, SC, Mia Mulder of Brentwood, TN, Molly Kizer of Union City, TN, Gib Mulder of Brentwood, TN, Whit Weatherford, Vivian Weatherford, Beau Weatherford, Audrey Carroll, and James Carroll, all of Selmer, TN; niece, Whitney Bevils; nephew, Matt Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kerri Moore; niece, Lori Lax; and a special aunt, Josephine Burks.
