Bill Payne, age 76, died on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Lawrence County, the son of Mary Elizabeth Moore and William Robert Payne Sr. and had lived in the Kalamazoo/Paw Paw, Michigan area for more than 50 years. Bill retired from B&B Trucking with more than 25 years of service and was known among family and friends as a great story teller and jokester. Members of his family include his life partner, Linda Gleason; his children, Danny Payne, Pete (Cheri) DeAnda, Ang Gleason and Andie Pequeno; five grandchildren, Josh (Natasha), Alex, Gabe, Madi and Derek. Other members of his family include his sister, Kathryn (Payne) Pressnell; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Jaiden and Emma. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Gleason; brother, Mac Payne and a sister, Mary Cottingham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Life Story Funeral Home, Betzler & Thompson – Paw Paw (800) 822-7594. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pulmonary Oncology Department at Bronson Hospital.
