Obituary of Charles "Bill" William HallBill Hall unexpectedly passed away on November 19, 2022, after courageously fighting ongoing health issues. He was 69 and will be missed.

Bill was born in Decatur, AL and attended schools in Florence, AL at Gilbert and Harlan Elementary, Forest Hills Jr. High and Bradshaw High School. In 1968, he moved with his family to Grand Rapids, Michigan and became a 1971 graduate of Creston High School.

Bill excelled in basketball as a 2-year starter on the varsity team and earned All-City Conference recognition. He was also widely recognized during one particular game by defensively shutting down the leading scorer in the state at Catholic Central High and holding him to only 3 points.

Following high school, Bill attended Grand Valley State College and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. During this same time, he also enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning the rank of Corporal. He also later served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Following his college graduation and military service, Bill was Honorably Discharged and began his working career that lasted over the next 40+ years. His work began as a real estate agent in Grand Rapids, MI. There, he thrived and quickly became a member of the Million Dollar Club.

In 1975, he moved to Decatur, AL and went to work at Fruehauf Industries as a Labor Relations Manager. However, he soon realized his true passion was working back in the real estate business. He loved “This Old House” with Bob Villa and ended up doing the same in Birmingham.

For years, he successfully sold real estate, owned properties, and operated property management services. He also worked in insurance, commercial construction and later worked with Papa John’s Pizza Delivery Management.

Bill was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was very likable and enjoyed by his family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed music, cooking, watching old movies, and sports of all kinds.

He especially loved the University of Alabama Football and had long conversations not only about Bear Bryant’s run but also about Nick Saban’s run as well.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jo Anne (Annie) and Wayne Siltanen.

Bill is survived by his sons, Christopher Hall of McCalla and Matthew Hall of Homewood. His surviving brothers are Dan Hall (Joyce) of Canton, GA, Jeff Siltanen (Vicky) of Panama City, FL, and James Hall (Sandy) of South Carolina.

A Memorial Gathering will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home.
